About The Author

Jim Gleason worked in the 1970's as a studio musician and was employed by over thirty major artists as music transcriber, including Santana, Journey, Herbie Hancock, Tower Of Power, Doobie Brothers, Jerry Garcia, Taj Mahal, Jorma Kaukonen.

In the 1980’s and ’90’s Jim authored the Note-For-Note™ series of audio transcriptions of great guitar solos as well as the Rock Performer's Guitar Method (published by RPM) and his Guitar Encyclopedia that were widely advertised in Guitar World, Guitar Player and Guitar For Practicing Musician magazines and used by more than 200,000 guitarists globally.

For 30 years he has thoroughly studied and deconstructed many styles and genres of virtuoso improvisation – from Beck to Bird to Bach, and more – to uncover the universal language of this musical art form. His insights are now incorporated into a well-structured series of studies and exercises in his current magnus, Guitar Improv which will transform Rock, Blues and Jazz guitar playing for years to come.

His new Guitar Improv course is for sale in print (on Amazon) and available free online at guitarimprov.com/gi.pdf
